Mississippi State fans should enjoy Jeffery Simmons’ response to Dan Mullen’s departure

Mississippi State DL Jeffery Simmons tweeted a positive outlook in the wake of Dan Mullen’s departure.
Mullen, who had been head coach of the Bulldogs since 2009, was officially announced as the next head coach of the Florida Gators on Sunday. Mullen previously served as the OC at Florida from 2005-08 and was a part of two national championships with the Gators.
He leaves the MSU program in good shape, but his departure leaves a big hole to fill. Mullen led the Bulldogs to 69 wins, the second most in school history, and he posted eight or more wins in five seasons at MSU.
Starting QB Nick Fitzgerald addressed Mullen’s departure Sunday and said that the program is bigger than any one person. Simmons also weighed in on the departure Monday and told fans that the team would be alright and that nothing can break the Bulldogs.

Simmons had a breakout season with the Bulldogs this year. He had 57 total tackles, 11 TFL, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles as a sophomore.
It is encouraging to see players respond confidently following Mullen’s departure, but there is no denying that Mullen did a remarkable job with the program. He leaves a tough hole to fill at Mississippi State.
