Mississippi State lands safety out of Louisiana for 14th commitment

Mississippi State continues to stay hot on the recruiting trail.

After landing Atlanta native Tyrese Ross earlier in the day, Dan Mullen and his staff added a second commitment on Friday. Saint James (La.) safety Shawn Preston became the Bulldogs’ third comment in the past seven days and announced his decision via Twitter.

“I just like what Coach Mullen has in place there and what Coach (Ron) English brings to the table,” he told Bulldawgs 247. “It is Coach English’s first year there and he has hit the ground quick in the SEC. And Coach Mullen has the best developmental program in college football right now and I want to be part of that.”

MSU now has 14 pledges in its 2018 class. Preston, who measures 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, is rated the No. 46 Louisiana recruit and No. 79 safety in the 2018 class on the 247Sports Composite. His highlights can be viewed below:
