Mississippi State is entering a new era in the men’s basketball realm, hiring Chris Jans to replace Ben Howland as head coach this offseason.

Now, Jans is trying to finalize his first roster in Starkville, and the Bulldogs got some bad news on Tuesday.

Per a report from Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports, freshman guard Cam Carter has decided to explore his transfer options by entering his name in the NCAA transfer portal:

Carter, a 4-star 2021 signee out of Virginia, appeared in 27 games for the Bulldogs this past season, making 4 starts. He averaged 2.2 points per contest.

Where he ends up next remains to be seen, but it appears his time in Starkville is coming to an end.
