Missouri added a significant player to its 2024 roster on Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers landed a commitment from ex-South Alabama linebacker Khalil Jacobs, who was one of the best players at his position in the Sun Belt last season. Jacobs also had offers from programs such as Alabama, Ole Miss and Auburn, amongst others.

Jacobs was one of the most productive linebackers in the Group-of-5 in 2023. He finished the year with 56 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 1 interception and 3 forced fumbles.
He spent 2 years at South Alabama before entering the portal and will now join a Missouri team that has College Football Playoff aspirations in 2024.
Missouri didn’t have many transfer needs once it got to the spring, but finding an additional linebacker to provide depth was a potential need for the Tigers. He’ll now provide depth behind an experienced group of inside linebackers and could work his way into an even bigger role.
Jacobs will be familiar with Missouri’s offensive system, as he’s following his former defensive coordinator to Columbia. Mizzou hired Corey Batoon away from South Alabama earlier this offseason.
Jacobs is the 15th transfer to commit to Missouri this offseason. The Tigers have the No. 14 transfer class in the country, according to 247Sports rankings.
