It’s hard for coaches to develop players they don’t have.

That’s a situation currently facing Missouri, writes Tod Palmer, a Tigers beat writer for the Kansas City Star. He detailed just how much Missouri has lost in the way of dismissals, transfers and retirements from the 2012-2014 recruiting classes.

The Tigers never pulled in a top-30 recruiting class during that stretch, already creating an uphill battle when it came to overall roster talent. But 26 of those 64 players signed are no longer on the roster, and Palmer notes that leaves a large gap where Missouri should have upperclassman depth.

That has translated to the field, where the Tigers are 2-7 and winless in the SEC under first year coach Barry Odom. The massive attrition is a trend Odom needs to fix if he wants his stay in Columbia to be lengthy or successful.
