Mizzou LB Ty’Ron Hopper is being nationally recognized for his standout performance in the Tigers’ upset win over a ranked Kansas State team.
The Senior Bowl has named Hopper its Defensive Player of the Week. Hopper had 8 tackles, including 6 solo stops and 1 tackle for loss, in Mizzou’s thrilling 30-27 victory.

As the honor suggests, Hopper is in his senior season at Mizzou. He played at Florida for 3 seasons and transferred to MU ahead of the 2022 campaign.
Last season, Hopper saw action in all 13 games this season, making 12 starts. He finished with 77 total tackles, leading the Tiger defense with 14 tackles for loss and 6 QB hurries. Hopper also had 2.5 sacks and 1 interception.
This season, Hopper has 14 total tackles through 3 games. His TFL against Kansas State was the first of the season. The Mizzou defense will look to tame the Memphis Tigers offense on Saturday in St. Louis.
The standout defender will have a decision to make at the end of the season. Hopper is on the Senior Bowl’s radar as a potential NFL Draft prospect, but he has the option of using his extra year of eligibility to return in 2024.
