The impact of the transfer portal continues to hit programs across the country, and Missouri became the latest victim Wednesday.

Eli Drinkwitz and the Tigers lost the services of veteran running back Tavorus Jones, as the 4-year player announced that will be entering the portal with one year of eligibility remaining.

Jones played sparingly over 4 seasons in Columbia, racking up 111 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 27 carries. His lone score came during the Tigers’ win over UMass in late September.

He also hauled in 6 passes for 26 yards over that span, and the El Paso, Texas native even got some playing time on kick return in 2025.

Jones was rated a 4-star recruit by 247Sports coming out of El Paso Burges High School, and he also held offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Michigan, Ole Miss, Texas and Texas A&M.

The 5-foot-9, 207 lb. rusher will likely look to spend his final year of eligibility at a place where he can become the focal point of a backfield. Louisiana-Monroe transfer Ahmad Hardy and Jamal Roberts–both sophomores–took control and produced one of the SEC’s best rushing attacks in 2025, they figure to still dominate carries for Missouri next season.
