South Carolina coach Will Muschamp is taking his first spring game with the Gamecocks seriously.
His starters won’t just be out there for limited snaps as a show for the fans.

The new coach likely wants to get as much work out of the first-string players to continue to increase his understanding of exactly what he’ll be working with this fall.
After all, short of an actual game, there’s nothing better than a simulated game in front of a regular season-like crowd to replicate high-pressure reps for evaluation purposes.
Muschamp addressed the media on Monday in advance of Saturday’s spring game.
Here are the highlights:
Muschamp says Brandon McIlwain had good command during the scrimmage, Mitch made some good throws. Hopes Nunez is back this week. #Gamecocks

Muschamp: Jamari Smith strictly at WR right now. Hurst and Crosby continue to play well at TE.

Will Muschamp: David Williams, AJ Turner continue to distance themselves as team's best running backs right now.

Muschamp: "We're a long way from being good in the secondary. That's just the way it is."

Muschamp: "Spring game is Saturday. We need a huge crowd." Mentions big group of recruits will be there.

Muschamp: "When big guys get tired, it's hard to get them back. They're done after that." Stresses constant rotation.

Interesting point from Muschamp: sacks aren't as prevalent in today's game with the spacing &quick throws from offenses. Disruption is key.
