Alabama basketball could soon be getting a key contributor back.
Josh Primo has been sidelined since he was injured in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals when the Crimson Tide knocked off Mississippi State. On Sunday, UA coach Nate Oats shared the latest on the SEC All-Freshman Team selection.
“We didn’t have a live practice today, so he couldn’t try to go live. He hasn’t gone live yet,” Oats told reporters, per Charlie Potter of 247Sports. “But he’s getting better. He’s doing more and more stuff in practice. We’ll see. He’ll probably be a game-day decision. We were pushing to try to get him by this game, and our trainer’s pretty good, so we’ll see how he feels in the morning. We’ll go through shootaround and then we’ll make a decision as we get closer to the game.”
Oats is confident that if Primo misses the Maryland game on Monday, he would be available in the Sweet 16. That, of course, means the Crimson Tide would have to take care of business against the Terps.
“If he doesn’t play tomorrow and we can get through tomorrow, I think he 100 percent would play — barring a setback — the following weekend,” Oats said.
Primo has played in 28 games, averaging 8.1 points and 22.6 minutes per game.
