Nebraska AD seems to take shot at Florida, Tennessee while announcing Scott Frost hire

Nebraska got its man with the announcement Saturday that Scott Frost was accepting the head coaching position with the Huskers.
Frost returns to his Alma mater after successfully turning around the UCF program in two years. He led the team to a bowl game in his first year there and capped off a 12-0 season with a win over Memphis Saturday.
The hiring looks to be a good one for Nebraska as Frost was a name linked to many job rumors over the last month of the season. In the end, the opportunity to return to the school where he played in college was too much to turn down, but Nebraska AD Bill Moos made an interesting comment during the introductory press conference Sunday.
Moos said he did not feel the need to fire a coach midseason as Nebraska struggled to a 4-8 record this year. He said the schools that chose to do so are either still looking for a coach or settled for their third choice.

This seems to be a shot at the situations at Tennessee and Florida. The Volunteers are still looking for a head coach after firing Butch Jones during the season. Florida also hired Dan Mullen after a reported deal with Chip Kelly did not work out in the wake of Jim McElwain’s firing.
The timing of the firings at Tennessee and Florida probably did not have as much of an impact as Moos seems to imply, but he definitely stood by his moves in the whole process at Nebraska.
