Nick Saban calls Florida State ‘one of the best teams in the country’ ahead of 2024 season
Nick Saban is optimistic about Florida State heading into the 2024 college football season.
Saban is now serving in a new role as an analyst for ESPN College GameDay. That crew is in Dublin, Ireland, in advance of FSU’s season-opener against Georgia Tech on Saturday.
Saban got to observe Florida State’s practice earlier this week and came away impressed. He broke down the Noles while on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday afternoon.
“Florida State has, to me, one of the best 5, probably, personnel-wise teams in the country,” Saban told McAfee. “The way they’ve been able to reload through the portal. As well as having good recruiting and good young players coming up through the program that they’ve developed.
“So I think they’re one of the best teams in the country. And looking at them on the field, they’re a very physical, good-looking team.”

Florida State is one of the favorites to win the ACC this season, along with Clemson and Miami. However, the general consensus is that the Noles are not as talented as they were a year ago when they started out the year with a 13-0 record.
FSU is +160 to make the College Football Playoff this season, per the latest odds from FanDuel. The Noles are currently favored by 11.5 points over Georgia Tech in the season-opener.
