Nick Saban did not receive a question about Jimbo Fisher from the podium on Tuesday at SEC Media Days, but that changed when he reached the desk with Laura Rutledge and the SEC Network set at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.

Rutledge posed a question to Saban: How do you think some of the events of the offseason will shade the game on Oct. 8 when Alabama meets Texas A&M.

“I think the game’s about the players,” Saban said on SEC Network. “Jimbo and I, I mean I wish you had some of the arguments we had in the staff room, a’ight, working together, a’ight, on the basketball court too. This one happened to be public. But the way I look at it is, when people make comments about Nick Saban, I listen. I try to learn, I try to make improvements in my own self by self-assessing in terms of what can I do to get better.”

Saban then told a story about how his wife, who he calls Miss Terry, used to “kill me” he said about how Saban treated the media earlier in his career. He has since worked on that, and believes he’s improved.

“I looked at it, she was right, I tried to change and hopefully I do a little better now than I used to,” Saban said.
