No Nick Saban, no problem for Alabama as the Crimson Tide won the Iron Bowl 42-13 on Saturday.

Alabama’s head coach wasn’t at the game as Saban had to quarantine at home after testing positive for COVID this week.

Following Alabama’s win, which improved its record to 8-0 on the season, Saban called in from home to share his thoughts during the postgame coverage.

Saban on how tough it was to watch the game from home:

“Well, it was difficult but I’m happy with the result, I can tell you that. I thought the players played really well, they played hard in the game, made a lot of big plays on offense. Defense stepped up and did a nice job. We didn’t finish like we’d like but I’m really, really proud of our team and our players. Regardless of what I felt like emotionally, this is a great win, great win for our fans, great win for us at Alabama. This is really special.”

Saban on what he plans to say to his team after the win in the postgame locker room:

“I’d say the same thing I’d say any other time, it’s a great win, it’s always great to win this game. The Iron Bowl is something special to the people in the state of Alabama. It’s something special to us as a team. Really proud of our team. This is a great win for us and I’m absolutely going to tell them about it. We’ll sing the fight song which is something we always do after a win.”

Saban on Mac Jones’ performance in the game:

“I thought Mac played really, really well. I’m sure when we look at the film, everybody is going to see some things they could do better and that’s what we want to focus on moving forward, doing what we need to do to improve. He certainly made the plays he needed to make today, Smitty played great, Najee played great. A lot of positives out there for us today.”
