Alabama head coach Nick Saban released a statement Monday on the indictment of defensive back Deionte Thompson for a felony assault charge.
Thompson was reportedly recently indicted on felony aggravated assault charges for a spring break beach brawl on a Texas beach.
Thompson has played in all eight of Alabama’s games this season, and has made 12 tackles.
“We are continuing to follow the progress of the legal proceedings in this matter,” Saban said. “We are not going to make any judgments until that process has been completed.”
Indictments returned by a Galveston County grand jury last week allege that four men each caused “serious bodily injury to Noah Frillou by striking or hitting or kicking Noah Frillou with the hand or foot,” a report from The Beaumont Enterprise stated.
Thompson was reportedly booked into Tuscaloosa County Jail in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on April 14.
