Alabama went into Nashville an angry team and simply destroyed the Commodores last weekend to the tune of 59-0. It was the latest lesson that it’s truly ill-advised to talk trash to the Crimson Tide, as some of the Commodores contingent had leading up to the game.
The Tide now return home to face Ole Miss looking to go 2-0 in SEC play.
Nick Saban was among the first coaches to speak during the SEC’s weekly Coaches Teleconference.
Here’s a summary of what the Alabama coach had to say on the call:
- “(Ole Miss is) a very explosive offensive team, great passing team. Playing much better on defense. This is a division game for us. These games have an extra importance for us.”
- Rashard Evans said he learned from being out, being on the sidelines during a few games. What do you ask of injured players on gameday? “We ask them to be very involved. Mental practice is important. They have to know every play, how they would rep it in their mind. If they can’t physically go, how to they mentally prepare? That’s what we ask of them all week in practice and on gameday.”
- Winning the right way the most important thing? “Well, we do want to win the right way. We like to impose our will on our opponents, that’s one of the ways we approach it.”
- How satisfying was last week’s win? “I think that’s the way we want to play. You are pleased anytime you get what you want from your team. But we have a 24-hour rule and we have moved on to the next challenge.”
