Alabama had fans buzzing on social media early Friday for multiple reasons. The Crimson Tide was dominating Notre Dame and UA defensive back Malachi Moore was not on the field.

Malachi’s mom, Tina Moore, described her son as “banged-up” in a now-deleted Twitter post, per Michael Casagrande of AL.com.

In his postgame press conference, Nick Saban said Moore was injured in the SEC Championship Game.

“He was able to practice on and off but it’s the type of injury that exercise aggravates it,” Saban said. “So he wasn’t able to go today.”

Linebacker Christian Harris, who was injured in the Dec. 12 game at Arkansas, started Friday but did not play the whole game.

“He was getting a little sore with the injury he has,” Saban said. “We just took him out because we didn’t want him to get hurt, which we do on occasion. But he played through it and he could have finished the game, we just took him out.”

Harris was able to contribute 5 total tackles, including 3 solo, in limited action. When Harris was out, Jaylen Moody stepped in with 3 tackles of his own, including 2 solo stops.

Moore and Harris will have over a week to heal as Alabama hits the field next on Jan. 11 in the national championship game to face the winner of Clemson-Ohio State.
