Nick Saban updates injury status of WR DeVonta Smith, QB Jalen Hurts ahead of LSU

It’s crunch time in the SEC, and November is usually a time when players get hit with the injury bug and depth starts to really win out.
Thankfully for Alabama, the Tide have remained relatively healthy this season, and heading into the showdown against LSU, that remains the case.
WR DeVontea Smith injured his hamstring against Missouri, and Nick Saban announced Wednesday on the SEC Coaches Teleconference that Smith has practiced this week and is making good progress. He remains day-to-day ahead of the LSU game.
QB Jalen Hurts had ankle surgery during the bye week because of a high ankle sprain. Saban said that Hurts is starting to turn the corner, but he’s unsure of Hurts’ status against LSU. Saban described Hurts’ recovery as “a confidence thing.”
Prior to Smith’s injury, Alabama had the most explosive receiving corps in the nation with Smith, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III and Jaylen Waddle.
