North Carolina game with Florida A&M reportedly in jeopardy

North Carolina’s game with Florida A&M appears to be in jeopardy because of academic and transfer eligibility issues.
Alison Posey, who is the sports director for ABC-27 in Tallahassee, Florida, reported that according to coach Willie Simmons, 20 players are ineligible. He said only 7 offensive lineman can travel, and that’s not enough to safely play a football game. This is likely a fluid situation to continue to monitor.
The Rattlers won 9 games in FCS last season. The Tar Heels, meanwhile, will turn to QB Drake Maye for his first crack at taking over for Sam Howell, the starter the past 3 years. Maye won a competition over Jacolby Criswell. Coach Mack Brown made it clear that Criswell will get chances, especially if the offense struggles.
North Carolina is trying to regain some momentum after it started last year in the top 10, but fell out of the rankings after losing 3 of its first 6 games, and lost in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl against South Carolina.
Just spoke with Florida A&M head football coach Willie Simmons. There are twenty players that are ineligible, be it to academics or transfer eligibility.
