We’ve seen this way too much in recent years.

New Mexico running back Bryson Carroll scored what looked to be a 57-yard touchdown run in the first quarter of Friday night’s game; however, it turned out that he celebrated much too early.

Why? He dropped the ball at the two-yard-line, and it’s what we consider the dumbest thing in football right now.

The running back took the handoff on a zone-read play and looked like he was going to make the house call, but the embarrassing mistake cost him and his team a touchdown.

At the time, Colorado State led New Mexico 7-0, and the score would have tied the game. However, his team ended up recovering the fumble and eventually scored the touchdown.

Colorado State beat New Mexico 35-21. Carroll finished with 26 carries for 193 yards and one touchdown.
