Notre Dame kicking woes: Fans voice concern after yet another missed FG

Notre Dame’s kicking this season has been an abject disaster.

Its kicking woes continued into Saturday against Pitt. Notre Dame missed the first field goal attempt of the afternoon, with a 46-yard attempt sailing wide right on its first offensive drive. The Fighting Irish have now missed 4 field goals and 4 extra points this season, with new kicker Erik Schmidt responsible for all 4 of those misses. Schmidt, unfortunately, has yet to make a field goal for Notre Dame this season.

With Burnette dealing with a groin injury, that’s a serious problem. Especially so for a team that is fighting for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Fans agree. Some took to social media to insist this problem will come back to bite them. Others are calling for open tryouts, while some insist the Irish should just go for it on every 4th down in FG territory.

See some of the best reaction we found below:

It’s not all bad for Notre Dame right now. Despite the missed kick, the Irish lead 14-0 early at Pitt.
