Notre Dame is still working with its longstanding scheduling agreement with the ACC. Now, at least one neutral-site game is being added to that agreement, the program announced on Monday.

During the 2027 season, Notre Dame will face Wake Forest in a matchup at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The venue is the home stadium for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and the site of the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

The matchup will also be dubbed the 2027 Duke’s Mayo Classic for the neutral-site affair. The game will still be played at the regularly scheduled Oct. 9 date.

The matchup does come in North Carolina and just a stone’s throw from Wake Forest’s Winston-Salem home but will serve as a neutral-site showdown:

“Charlotte is an ACC town, and Wake Forest has the largest and most significant academic footprint of any conference institution in the Queen City,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics John Currie. “With our campus just 82 miles from Bank of America Stadium, the 2027 Duke’s Mayo Classic against Notre Dame is a tremendous opportunity to elevate Wake Forest’s presence and celebrate with incredible alumni, fans, and partners across the region.”

So far, Notre Dame’s 2027 schedule already includes ACC matchups against Wake Forest, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. The Fighting Irish also face Navy and Big Ten foes Purdue and Michigan State for a total of 7 games thus far.
