Ohio State’s band forms infamous ‘Horns Down’ ahead of Week 1 clash
Ohio State’s band, not one of its players, fired the first salvo of a long Saturday of intense football against Texas at Ohio Stadium.
No. 1 Texas and its new starting quarterback, Arch Manning, were set to face No. 3 Ohio State in Columbus in one of the most anticipated season openers in college football history. The Longhorns were the preseason’s darlings as the top-ranked team with the latest Manning set to take center stage, and the Buckeyes happen to be the defending national champion.
So, this was going to be must-see TV on the last Saturday of August. The Ohio State band made it must-see TV before the game even kicked off though, as it formed a “Horns Down” shape to take a brutal shot at Texas’s beloved “Horns Up” gesture.
The Sickos Committee social media account was there to document the stunt that Ohio State’s band pulled, because of course they were. Here’s the shot of the band taking a shot at Texas:
The Sickos Committee called it “Unsportsmanlike conduct,” and what the band did was probably the first of many instances of unsportsmanlike conduct that will take place as the 2 national championship hopefuls collide before the calendar even hits September.
By the end of Saturday afternoon, we’ll know if it truly was “Horns Down” for the Longhorns in Columbus.
