Oklahoma added a major contributor to its 2024 defensive line on Thursday night.

The Sooners landed a commitment from ex-TCU defensive lineman Damonic Williams. The star lineman picked Oklahoma over programs such as Texas, LSU, Mizzou and others.

In his announcement, Williams said he picked Oklahoma because of the relationship he built with head coach Brent Venables and defensive line coach Todd Bates during his recruitment.

“They were genuine & I believe in their ability to develop me as a man & a player & prepare me for the next level,” Williams wrote in-part. “I can’t wait to get to work with my teammates!! You will get my best version & my best effort. I am blue collar & I love to compete at the highest level. God Bless & Boomer Sooner!!”

Williams was very impactful as an interior defensive lineman last season with the Horned Frogs. He contributed 33 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks — all career-highs. Williams was also a contributor for TCU as a freshman in 2022 when it made it all the way to the national championship game.

Williams was one of the top-rated transfers to enter the portal this offseason, particularly in the spring window. He ranked as the No. 4 available player in the portal at the time of his commitment, per ESPN’s ranking.

At 6-foot-2, 320 pounds, Williams brings elite size and athleticism to OU’s interior defensive line. He’ll join a front 7 that already includes standouts such as Danny Stutsman and Ethan Downs, amongst others.

Oklahoma has now landed 16 transfers this offseason. The group currently sits at No. 17 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

OU will open the 2024 season against Temple on Friday, Aug. 30.
