Oklahoma softball picked up right where it left off from last season after its national title victory. The Sooners are 13-1 to start the year and sent an emphatic message to the rest of the country Sunday; head coach Patty Gasso’s squad needed just 5 innings to send No. 1 UCLA packing, blanking the Bruins 14-0.

Oklahoma truly left no doubt at the Mary Nutter Classic.

The Sooners finished with 6 home runs and 20 hits on the afternoon, with Kinzie Hansen totaling 2 home runs and 5 RBI by herself. Tiare Jennings was incredible as well, accounting for 4 RBI and a home run.

Alex Storako matched the offense’s energy from the circle, throwing 5 strikeouts with just 3 hits allowed in a complete 5-inning shutout.

Oklahoma’s only loss on the season came against Baylor last week, 3-4. The Sooners have since won 5 straight and will be back in action on March 3 against Illinois Chicago.
