In bowl games, it’s always interesting to see who wins the strength vs. strength matchup in an out-of-conference clash. In the Texas Bowl, many people will be watching to see how Oklahoma State RB Chuba Hubbard, who leads the FBS with 1,936 rushing yards and 21 TDs, against the Texas A&M defense, which ranks No. 30 nationally in rushing defense.
Hubbard had high praise for the Aggies at Thursday’s media opportunity.
“They fly around and they hustle,” Hubbard told reporters, per Cole Thompson of Aggie Maven. “They’re strong and fast. They’re just a great football team.”
Texas A&M’s defense will be without standout DT Justin Madubuike, who won’t be playing in Friday’s game. Jayden Peevy is expected to step in and see first-team snaps in Madubuike’s absence.
“Obviously, they’re without him [Madubuike],” Hubbard said. “He’s a great player, but they’re still a great defense so it’ll be something I’m looking forward too.”
Last time out, Hubbard logged 104 rushing yards and a touchdown on 24 carries against Oklahoma, the Big 12’s top rushing defense.
