Ole Miss is preparing for the Sugar Bowl against Baylor, which should be an exciting New Year’s 6 bowl game.

But, on Monday, the defense got some bad news, as it was reported that a defensive back who started in 2020 was entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Per Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports, DB Jakorey Hawkins is exploring his transfer options ahead of the 2022 season:

Hawkins played in 8 games in 2020, making 6 starts. He recorded 28 tackles, broke up 3 passes and forced 2 fumbles. In 2021, he only recorded 1 tackle.

Where Hawkins ends up playing for the 2022 season remains to be seen, but it appears his time with the Rebels has come to an end.
