The Ole Miss Rebels have been very active in the transfer portal this January, with new head coach Pete Golding and his staff securing a number of talented players to fill the gaps on their roster.
While the Rebels have mainly been bringing in fresh talent, though, the portal works both ways, and that means that several key pieces from their recent College Football Playoff semifinal run have also gone out the door as well.
One of the biggest blows in this regard came on Thursday, when, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, star Ole Miss pass rusher Princewill Umanmielen elected to enter the transfer portal following a breakout junior campaign in Oxford.
A 4-star recruit in the 2023 cycle, the explosive Texas native started off his collegiate career with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, playing in 23 total games and racking up 1.5 sacks across his 2 seasons with the program.
Umanmielen hit the portal following his sophomore year, and landed with the Rebels last offseason. The change of scenery did him a world of good, as Umanmielen spearheaded a lethal Rebels pass rush by securing a team-leading 9 sacks on the year.
Now in the portal once again, Umanmielen is likely to be one of the most sought-after players in the entire portal window.
