The University of Alabama and Nick Saban hired defensive assistant Pete Golding for the 2018 season.

Golding came to Alabama after being the defensive coordinator and coaching the defensive backs at the University of Texas-San Antonio.

“We are pleased to have Pete and his family join our staff at Alabama,” Saban said. “Pete is an exciting young coach, who has an outstanding reputation as both a teacher and recruiter. He will be a great fit in our organization with his knowledge of the game and his ability to relate to student-athletes. We are thrilled to welcome Pete and his family to Alabama.”

Although Golding is relatively young, he’s earned a reputation as an up-and-coming elite defensive mind. He’s been a defensive coordinator for six years of his career thus far and mostly coaching the defensive backs.

Golding played safety for Delta State from 2002-2005.
