Ole Miss will take on Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl on Friday. But there will be other things on the minds of both Rebels players and fans.
Rumors continue to swirl about the possibility of Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss to head to either LSU or Florida. LSU, reportedly, has prepared a massive offer that would make him college football’s highest-paid coach. Of course, Kiffin could end up staying in Oxford. Whatever his decision is, it will come on Saturday, per Ole Miss AD Keith Carter.
That’s trumped the other big storyline surrounding the Rebels. A win clinches the program’s first College Football Playoff appearance in school history. They’re an eight-point favorite to beat the Bulldogs on the road, according to Circa Sports’ opening lines released on Sunday:
The Rebels are seeking their third straight win in the series. In 2023, they won 17-7 as Quinshon Judkins put up 119 yards and a touchdown. In 2024, Jaxson Dart threw for a touchdown and added 77 yards on the ground in a 26-14 Rebels win.
The Bulldogs have something on the line as well: bowl eligibility for the first time since 2022. After a 2-10 mark in 2024, they’re 5-6 entering Week 14.
Kickoff from Davis Wade Stadium is set for noon ET on ABC.
