Former LSU quarterback Matt Flynn knows the highs and lows of football.

Flynn, who once signed a three-year $20.5 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks, was released by the New England Patriots Monday, according to reports.

Flynn backed up Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay for five seasons, and during the 2012 season finale, he threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns against the Lions. Both were Green Bay records. That’s the main reason why the Seahawks signed him to such an enormous contract. He was eventually beaten out by Russell Wilson.

Flynn has thrown for 2,541 yards with 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in eight NFL seasons.

Flynn led LSU to a BCS National Championship in 2007, beating Ohio State 38-24.
