Paul Finebaum, Bobby Carpenter look ahead to Georgia-LSU SEC Championship Game

The Georgia Bulldogs locked up the SEC East Saturday with their 21-14 win over the Auburn Tigers. LSU knocked off Ole Miss 58-37 in a shootout in Oxford; however, LSU still has to beat one of Arkansas and Texas A&M to make it to Atlanta, as the Tigers hold the head-to-head win over Alabama.
LSU is led by Heisman Trophy candidate Joe Burrow and the record-setting LSU offense, while Georgia is led by a punishing running game and an elite defense. The two teams couldn’t be more opposite of one another.
So, what gives?
Paul Finebaum and Bobby Carpenter joined SportsCenter Sunday morning to preview the likely SEC Championship Game. The former Ohio State standout is concerned about Georgia scoring enough points to keep up with LSU’s offense.
“Georgia is going to have a hard time beating LSU unless they start to find ways to push the ball down the field,” Carpenter said on SportsCenter Sunday morning. “This Georgia team can run it; they ran it against one of the best defenses in college football, but against LSU, they’re going to have to score points, and they were not able to do it through the air yesterday, really outside of those three passes. Thirteen completions — they have to have more from Jake Fromm, who was a preseason Heisman Trophy candidate.”
Finebaum, on the other hand, looks to Georgia’s strengths — the offensive line and defense, as he thinks the Bulldogs will make it very interesting.
“Really, one thing Georgia has is they have a really good offensive line, and their defense bowed up — they looked a little weak at the end of that game,” Finebaum said. “I think the Georgia defense is enough to make this game very interesting.”
The SEC Championship Game will be live from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on December 7.
