Paul Finebaum has been high on Texas quarterback Arch Manning all offseason and he’s not backing down now with the season just a few weeks away.
During an appearance on Get Up on Monday morning, Finebaum predicted Manning will win the 2025 Heisman Trophy.
“Come on, you know what the answer is, it is Arch Manning,” Finebaum said. “Here’s why. It isn’t because I am in love with the guy. It is because he is going to win that first game (against Ohio State) on the biggest stage in college football this year. All of a sudden it is going to go Archmania to its going to transcend the sport of college football. He has so many other big moments during the season and the Heisman is often won by those moments.”
For what it’s worth, the betting markets are in agreement with Finebaum. Manning is the preseason Heisman Trophy betting odds frontrunner. He’s priced between +600 and +750 to win the award, depending on which of the best sports betting apps you happen to be using.
The Week 1 game between Texas and Ohio State is a rematch from the College Football Playoff semifinal game from last season that the Buckeyes won, 28-14.
Much of the talk last season at Texas was when were the Longhorns going to go Manning. As Finebaum said, it is officially the Manning era in Austin. The expectations for Steve Sarkisian and Texas have never been higher than they are now, and a win against the Buckeyes would be a great start to a run towards the Heisman.
These two teams square off on August 30, with kickoff taking place at 12 p.m. ET in Columbus.
