Texas A&M had a chance to beat Alabama on Saturday night. The Aggies had one play from the 2-yard line to score the game-winning touchdown but failed on an incomplete pass from Haynes King as the clock expired.

Instead, it was the Crimson Tide hanging on for a 24-20 victory.

The final play has come under heavy fire ever since it failed.

On Sunday during their “Week 6 Recap” show, ESPN analysts Matt Barrie and Paul Finebaum talked about the game, the final play, and where Alabama goes from here.

“This game is going to be a topic for a couple of reasons,” Finebaum said. “I think it starts with Alabama and (Jalen) Milroe and where is Bryce Young as we turn the page to Tennessee.”

Finebaum then quickly turned his attention to the final play of the game

“And the most important thing I distilled form this game was a late night tweet from Johnny Manziel, who was the star of this game 10 years ago,” Finebaum added. “Had he not tweeted anything, I think (the) Aggies would feel pretty good, Hey. what an effort, blah, blah, blah. But the fact that Manziel, the most famous Aggie ever, tweeted as the game ended that that’s the worst play call he has ever seen and it was a joke, I think is going to resonate pretty loudly in the world of Aggie land.”

Barrie then chimed in with his own thoughts about the play A&M ran to try to win the game.

“The play call was brutal,” Barrie said. “We were sitting in studio. … Everybody’s hyped up. Here we go, a chance for an upset for the ages. And then that play runs, and all of us just kind of groined. … That’s the call?”
