ESPN college football pundit Paul Finebaum took to the airwaves Sunday morning for a slight break in the Lane Kiffin madness to predict the outcome of the upcoming SEC Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia.
“I once picked Georgia against Alabama, and a friend of mine said ‘Don’t ever pick Georgia against Alabama’,” Finebaum said Sunday morning on SportsCenter. “The record is pretty supportive of Alabama winning, I think it is 9 out of the last 10. Now, some will say ‘Yeah, but weren’t most of those with Nick Saban?’ One of those losses was with Nick Saban. But do need I remind you, Kalen DeBoer is 2-0 against Kirby Smart – and nobody is 2-0 against Kirby Smart.”
Smart is 1-7 all-time coaching against Alabama, while is record against all other teams at Georgia is 115-13. That includes back-to-back losses to the DeBoer-led Crimson Tide in 2024 and 2025. The Bulldogs were the No. 2 team in the country in 2024 when No. 4 Alabama upended them 41-34 in Tuscaloosa. And Georgia’s only loss in 2025 was Sept. 27 in Athens when then-No. 17 Alabama upset the then-No. 5 Bulldogs 24-21.
The SEC Championship Game is set for Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. ET, and will be telecast on ABC.
