Paul Finebaum responds to David Pollack saying Alabama will beat Georgia in SEC title game

Earlier this week, ESPN’s David Pollack made an SEC title game prediction, saying he still thinks Alabama will beat Georgia in Atlanta.
That would be a bit of an upset, as Georgia has looked like the clear No. 1 team in the country, not just in the SEC, so far this season.
On Thursday, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum joined “The Opening Kickoff” on 105.5 FM WNSP and said he’s riding with the Dawgs if he had to choose right now (via AL.com):
“Quite frankly, I don’t really know how you can make a statement like that right now,” said Finebaum. “For Alabama, you have to see how they play the rest of the season. They are very inconsistent. We’re all obsessed over their issues.
“If I’m on the high school debate team, and I have to take Alabama to beat Georgia, I can make a case,” Finebaum explained. “It’s not really hard, but I want to see what Georgia does this weekend. … I think there will be enormous pressure on Georgia. But here won’t be as much pressure as we make it out to be because Georgia can lose that game. Alabama can’t.
“We’ll get the traditional Alabama response: ‘I’m not going to bet against Nick Saban.’ Well, I haven’t gone against Nick Saban in about 10 years, but I’m leaning toward going against Nick Saban in that game.”
Right now, it does seem as though Alabama and Georgia are heading for a showdown in Atlanta. But, there are still a few weeks left in the regular season for that to change.
We’ll see what happens, but a game between those 2 juggernauts with an SEC championship on the line would certainly be must-see television.
