Paul Finebaum says Jordan Travis injury could keep Florida State out of CFP
Paul Finebaum broke down the College Football Playoff implications of Jordan Travis’ injury on Sunday morning
Travis went down late in the first quarter of FSU’s win over North Alabama in Week 12. The Noles went on to win the game after initially trailing 13-0, but the concern now shifts to Travis’ status and FSU’s College Football Playoff hopes.
Finebaum said he believes Travis’ injury could knock FSU out of the CFP even if the Noles finish off the regular season with a 13-0 record.
“I think the committee will take into consideration how heartbreaking it is, but that’s not going to help Florida State if we get a squeeze here in 2 weeks with a bunch of undefeated teams,” Finebaum said on SportsCenter on Sunday morning. “I think it hurts them badly. I think it could even knock them out of the Playoffs in spite of what they do the rest of the way, winning next week against Florida, and obviously against Louisville in the ACC Championship Game.
“The problem is they have good wins, they don’t have great wins, and other schools will have great wins along the way. As bad as it hurts Florida State, they’re going to have to hold on right now and hope some other schools lose.”
Florida State’s best win this season came against LSU back in Week 1. However, the Noles could earn a top-10 win over Louisville in the ACC Championship Game as well.
Tate Rodemaker is likely to start in-place of Travis the rest of the way. Florida State is currently at No. 4 in the CFP rankings.
Kickoff vs. Florida is set for 7 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
