Paul Finebaum updates prediction for SEC champion entering Week 11

Paul Finebaum is monitoring the SEC Championship race this season, and he knows a major wrench was tossed into the standings in Week 10.
Texas A&M, previously the only team without a loss in SEC play, was stunned by South Carolina in a road drubbing. The Aggies were shut out in the second half as the Gamecocks rolled to the 44-20 win.
Now, the SEC standings feature 5 teams with just one loss. A&M is included in that group to go with Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and LSU. Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Alabama are teams with 2 losses who could also climb back into the race to Atlanta down the stretch.
So, who is Finebaum rolling with to lift the trophy in Atlanta as we hit Week 11? He admitted during his appearance for “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” that he’s “torn” between 2 of those top contenders.
“I’m torn between Georgia and Texas, but I think I’m still going to side with Georgia. I think, assuming that they get by this weekend (at Ole Miss), and I really don’t know yet. That’s a game I can’t call on Monday,” said Finebaum. “I think they would have the inside track because they’ll be sitting there waiting.”
Finebaum’s prediction is unsurprising with Georgia and Texas headlining the latest 2024 SEC Championship odds. Fans can use SDS’s best sports betting app to get into the action down the stretch.
The Bulldogs struggled mightily against Florida, but Finebaum still sees a Georgia squad that can be elite and scary when playing its best ball:
“The A&M loss really reverberated because it changed the dynamics so much. But I’m staying with Georgia, I’ve been with them all along, and at times, Georgia can really be frightening to watch. And I say that judging them on the highest possible scale,” Finebaum explained. “Georgia to perfection as opposed to what Auburn is doing. As long as you can survive, that’s what matters most… If you’re Georgia, you may have 7-8 more games. Getting a win, as ugly as it may look, is all that matters.”
