While fans got their first chance to watch the Gamecocks this fall during today’s scrimmage, the team was without returning wide receiver Pharoh Cooper. Multiple minor injuries kept Cooper from participating today.

“They call it a sprained hand and that’s the biggest reason (he sat out), and I think somebody bumped into his knee the other day,” said Spurrier. “There is nothing wrong with him. We were playing tackle today so he didn’t have to be here for that.”

Cooper also saw limited time during spring practice for precautionary reasons.

The dynamic wideout is one of the leading receivers in the SEC. Saturday Down South ranked Cooper No. 1 on a recent list of top wide receivers for 2015.

He caught 69 passes for 1,139 yards a year ago.
