Phidarian Mathis chides Georgia players at Senior Bowl: ‘We still run the SEC’

Phidarian Mathis and the Alabama Crimson Tide came up short in this year’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
But, as Mathis prepares for the 2022 NFL Draft this week at the Senior Bowl, he still has plenty of jewelry from his college days, including a CFP title ring from the 2020 season and this year’s SEC Championship Game victory.
During his Senior Bowl press conference, Mathis took a playful shot at the Georgia players in attendance, reminding them that Alabama is still the top dog in the SEC:
“I got a lot of respect for those guys. You know, we came up short. But let me remind y’all: we still run the SEC, now. Let that be known." – #Alabama DL Phil Mathis regarding the Georgia players joining him at the #SeniorBowl pic.twitter.com/LyLx2zYCGL

“I got a lot of respect for those guys,” Mathis said. “You know, we came up short. But, let me remind y’all: we still run the SEC, now. Let that be known.”
We’ll see if any Georgia players respond as the press conferences move along.
