Photo: Arkansas getting creative on Fourth of July to recruit elite in-state QB Gerry Bohanon
Arkansas may already have an elite signal caller committed in the 2018 recruiting cycle in four-star quarterback Connor Noland, but that hasn’t stopped the Razorbacks from continuing to pursue Earle native Gerry Bohanon. Also rated as a four-star QB recruit, Bohanon is currently being recruited by the Razorbacks and holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Baylor and Mississippi State among many others.
While it’s somewhat risky to chase another quarterback with one already pledged to the class, you can never have too many quarterbacks on the roster. Considering the quarterback depth chart in Fayetteville has taken a few hits following the transfers of Ricky Town and Rafe Peavey, not to mention the pending graduation of Austin Allen, the idea of adding two quarterbacks next offseason does make sense.
Give credit to Arkansas for getting creative with their latest recruiting pitch to Bohanon, as the Razorbacks are attempting to use the Fourth of July to their full advantage. Check out this holiday edit the team sent Bohanon:

Surely it is no coincidence that head coach Bret Bielema sent out this tweet soon after Bohanon’s tweet:
Grilling on the 4th is such a great tradition and should be supported by #Razorbacks all over!

It’s not often The Natural State produces two four-star quarterback prospects in a single recruiting cycle but should the Razorbacks eventually sign both players, it would be a major coup for the program — especially considering they both rank as the state’s top two overall prospects for 2018.
When you take into account Arkansas has arguably the SEC’s best developer of quarterbacks in offensive coordinator Dan Enos, the two recruits may not find a better option in the league than to stay at home and play for the Razorbacks.
If Bohanon does indeed commit and eventually sign with Arkansas come signing day, he could represent the most athletically gifted quarterback the program has had under Bielema. As a high school junior, Bohanon racked up 2,734 passing yards and 27 scores to go along with 1,134 rushing yards and another 14 touchdowns. Given the fact that Alabama has been known to struggle with dual-threat quarterbacks in recent history, could Bohanon be the key to the Razorbacks ending the school’s nearly decade-long drought against the Crimson Tide?
