In a move that will send shockwaves throughout college baseball, Florida State is reportedly parting ways with head coach Mike Martin Jr.
The news was reported by Kendall Rogers of D1 baseball after the Seminoles went 34-25 this season, and made it to the regional round of the NCAA Tournament.
This is a stunning news mainly because of Martin’s longevity with the program. This was his 25th season on the Seminole coaching staff. His first 2 years in charge, the Seminoles went 43-29, and won 60 percent of his games and sporting an 8-2 record against rivals Miami, Florida and Clemson.

In 2021, Florida State finished 31-24 and had the ACC Player and Pitcher of the Year in Matheu Nelson and Parker Messick.
Recently, Martin discussed FSU’s struggles. It’s just the second time since the mid-1980s that FSU failed to advance past the regional round in consecutive seasons, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.
“I’ve got to coach better,” Martin said, bluntly, after his team’s season came to an end. “I’m never going to roll a player, I’m never going to be that kind of guy. You go over things 2 or 3 times a week every week for months on end, but it ultimately falls on me.”
