Promising Texas A&M sophomore Justin Dunning leaves practice following injury

One of Texas A&M’s young defenders left practice early Monday after sustaining an undisclosed injury, as sophomore safety Justin Dunning only made it through the first 20 minutes of practice before leaving the practice field.
Dunning played in only five games last season for the Aggies but managed to rack up 20 tackles and an interception in limited duties. A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin did not reveal the extent of Dunning’s injury following practice and indicated the team is still evaluating the injury.
According to Travis L. Brown of My Aggie Nation, Sumlin recently indicated the versatile Dunning would see time at linebacker, nickel and safety this fall.
One thing Sumlin was willing to acknowledge after practice was a position change, as sophomore Landis Durham has moved from linebacker to defensive end.
“Moved him to D-end, full-time to give us some depth there,” Sumlin said after practice. “He’s embraced it, he’s 250 (pounds) right now, so… He likes it, he played a lot of that in high school basically. He was trying to keep his weight down. He’s going to help us and give us depth… He gives us a fifth guy in the rotation, which will help us.”
