Walker Howard played for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss in 2023 and 2024, before transferring to Louisiana last season. After 1 season with the Ragin’ Cajuns, Howard once again entered the transfer portal.
According to a report from CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer, Howard will be heading back to Oxford for the 2026 season.
Howard was a big-time recruit in the class of 2022 when he signed out of high school with LSU. According to the 247 Composite, he was the No. 40 player in the class, including the No. 5 quarterback in the class.
During his freshman year at LSU, he went 2-of-4 for 7 yards before transferring to Ole Miss. During his time at Ole Miss, he sat behind Jaxson Dart and completed 3 of 6 passes for 56 yards.
At Louisiana, Walker opened the season as the starter but suffered a torn oblique in Week 1. That injury was initially thought to be season-ending, but Howard did manage to make his way back to the rotation, though he never regained his starting job.
Howard ended the year with 18 completions on 41 attempts in 6 appearances. He threw for 155 yards and 3 picks.
He isn’t the only quarterback to transfer to Ole Miss this offseason, as Deuce Knight also announced he would be leaving Auburn and joining the Rebels in 2026.
