Alabama trailed by as many as 8 points in the fourth quarter of this game, but the Crimson Tide survived an upset bid from South Carolina to move to 7-1 on the season.

The Gamecocks were dominant for large swaths of time in this game. However, a late fumble by LaNorris Sellers gave Alabama the field position it needed to win this game in regulation. Germie Bernard’s touchdown with under a minute to go in the game gave Alabama a 29-22 victory.

Quarterback Ty Simpson was a bit inconsistent in this game, but ended up having a solid final stat line: 253 yards and 2 touchdowns on 43 pass attempts. The Crimson Tide were unable to connect on their down-field pass attempts for most of the night.

Running back Daniel Hill was Alabama’s leading receiver in this game, catching 4 passes for 76 yards. Ryan Williams had one of his best games of the year as he ended the night with 72 yards. Bernard scored twice — once in the air and once on the ground for the game-winner.

Alabama’s defense held South Carolina to just 4.8 yards per play in the win.
