Florida defeated Long Island University 55-0 on Saturday as it moved to 1-0 on the young season.

The Gators were heavy favorites against Long Island and largely delivered with an excellent performance on both sides of the ball. The offense was, of course, led by quarterback DJ Lagway.

Lagway completed 15-of-18 passes for 120 yards and 3 touchdowns. Once the result was no longer in doubt, Lagway stepped aside and Tramell Jones Jr. continued where he left off. Jones threw for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 pass attempts in relief.

Running back Jadan Baugh also got over the century mark, rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 11.6 yards per carry in the win.

Defensively, Florida limited Long Island to just 2 yards per play. UF also recovered a pair of Long Island fumbles on the day. Tougher tests are certainly coming, but Florida played well on both sides of the ball in Week 1.
