Georgia has won the 2025 SEC Championship.
After a slow start on offense, the Bulldogs cruised to a 28-7 win over Alabama in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon. Georgia blocked a punt in the first quarter and later picked off Ty Simpson, setting up 2 short fields that turned into 14 quick points for the Bulldogs.
Alabama’s offense sputtered all night long and only found the end zone once. By then, it was too little, too late.
Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton led the way with 3 touchdown passes, although he threw for only 156 yards overall.
On offense for Alabama, the Crimson Tide averaged just 3.8 yards per play. They ended the game with -3 rushing yards. It’s the second straight week that Alabama has totaled under 4 yards per play — something the Tide didn’t do in any of their previous 11 games.
Georgia became the first team to win back-to-back SEC Championships since Alabama in 2020-2021. Georgia now has won the SEC Championship Game 6 times, including 4 under Kirby Smart. The Dawgs also beat Alabama for the first time in the SEC title game after losing the previous 4 while ending Alabama’s 3-game winning streak in the series.
