When you’re a Power 5 program and you host an FCS opponent, you’re supposed to win and win big.

That’s what the Missouri Tigers did on Saturday, trouncing in-state foe Southeast Missouri and putting together a great all-around performance.

With Mizzou’s offense, it all starts with RB Tyler Badie. Before he ended his day at halftime, he had 9 carries for 81 yards and 2 scores. He also added 2 catches for 14 yards and a touchdown. Here was his big 49-yard touchdown run to start the scoring:

When the Tigers didn’t put the ball in the end zone, kicker Harrison Mevis was up to the task. Since Mizzou fans love their kicker, here’s a video of his 43-yard kick:

Three quarterbacks played, and all 3 looked good. Connor Bazelak went 21-for-30 for 346 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brady Cook went a perfect 4-for-4 for 25 yards and a touchdown. And Tyler Macon threw his first collegiate touchdown, hitting JJ Hester for a 65-yard touchdown.

The defense let up a bit in the second half when the backups came in, allowing the Redhawks to score 28 points after the intermission. The first-team defense didn’t give up any points, but the third-and-fourth-string guys struggled against SEMO.

But, in the grand scheme of things, it didn’t matter much in the final score of 59-28.

Now, the Tigers prepare for an important Week 4 road trip. They’ll head east to take on a tough Boston College squad. Improve to 3-1 next week, and the Tigers will be feeling good heading into more SEC action. Fall to 2-2 and there will be some major questions as the schedule gets tougher.
