One of the longest-tenured general managers in the NFL will serve his last season in 2018.

Alabama Hall of Fame tight end Ozzie Newsome, nicknamed “The Wizard of Oz” for his exploits on the field in Tuscaloosa, will hold his GM title for only one more season, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti announced Friday. Newsome is not being asked to step down, he agreed to the move five years ago with the plan to elevate Eric DeCosta to the position.

“Ozzie will step down as GM and has assured me that he’s not going anywhere and that he will work with me and work with Eric for a smooth transition,” Bisciotti said Friday during his press conference.

Newsome has held the position for Baltimore since the 2002 season. He helped the club to win two Super Bowls during his tenure as GM. Newsome was a first-round pick of the Browns in 1978. Newsome’s Browns would later become the Ravens. He moved with the club to Baltimore before the expansion Browns were established.

Here’s a segment of Bisciotti’s press conference via the Ravens:
