Rece Davis is excited for the Kentucky-Tennessee game, and has called it a quintessential battle of style and pace.

Davis noted that despite all the recent issues at Tennessee, the Vols have won 34 of 37 games in the border rivalry. This time, it’s one of the slowest-paced teams in the country in Kentucky, and one of of the fastest in Tennessee.

Davis also noted that last year, Kentucky got pressure on Hendon Hooker, which Alabama was unable to do this season. Davis said Kentucky pressured Hooker 36 percent of the time, the most he’s been pressured at Tennessee, and he was sacked 5 times.

“For Kentucky to have any chance, and I’m not sure they really do have a chance, but to have any chance, that’s what they have to do,” Davis said on the “College GameDay” podcast with Pete Thamel. “That’s their only chance. Get them behind the sticks, make a couple of unproductive possessions, and then hog the ball.”

Davis noted that he’s not optimistic that the Cats will catch the Vols in a look-ahead game with Georgia.
