Rece Davis shared his prediction for the next Penn State head coach on the most recent episode of the College GameDay podcast.
There have been multiple names thrown out there for the job in Happy Valley, but Davis believes it will be Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule who goes back and takes the job for his alma-mater.
“If I had to make one, and I had to dance around it, I’m going to say Rhule,” Davis said when asked for a prediction on who takes the job. “Because of the Penn State ties. If you’re making me make a prediction, I would probably go there.”
Rhule played college football at Penn State for Joe Paterno, so it only makes sense that he figures to be a top candidate for the job. He is also close friends with Pat Kraft, who is the athletic director at Penn State.
The two have been close for years, as they were together as the coach and athletic director at Temple from 2013-2016. Kraft was hired as Penn State’s athletic director back in 2022.
This conversation about Rhule going to Penn State figures to continue throughout the season, and the Cornhuskers do make a trip to Happy Valley on Nov. 22.
